Project Description

This project was a full exterior renovation in a Boulder neighborhood with large lots and towering trees, an oasis of calm and quiet, tucked away in the center of town. The home was about 10 years old, designed by architect Kirk Aker, in a contemporary style, leaning post-modern.  It had a bit of an infamous bachelor-pad past life.  The client was an interior designer who reimagined the exterior to make it her family home.  It was such a pleasure to work together!  We began an iterative and co-creative design process involving material samples and a digital study model to help with visualization.  The builder, Kabili Construction, took the exterior walls down to the sheathing and installed the new materials, including a full natural stone veneer, fiber cement lap siding, and shou sugi ban siding with a rainscreen installation.  Take a look at the “before” images. This home went through a huge transformation!  More “after” photography coming soon!
